Tape Bonding
Bonding with double-sided adhesive tape
Tape bonding, also called air-gap bonding, involves joining different components together with precisely cut double-sided adhesive tape. It is important for a visually and functionally high-quality result that the tape is cut perfectly and that the components are aligned exactly.
The advantage of this type of bonding is that protective glass or touchscreens can be joined quickly and cost-effectively to form an MMI unit without size restrictions. The air gap between glass and display is maintained and can also be varied by using adhesive tapes of different thicknesses, for example if a certain installation depth of the unit is required.
For tape bonding, we use our clean room or a flowbox to minimise the inclusion of dust and other foreign particles.
